Intellectual Apocolypse - WITHOUT THE INTERNET?? (Due 1/12/12- 3:00pm)

“…without an internet connection,” do YOU “flop”?
  • That is, can you handle coming up with your own solution or very simply can you recall something without looking somewhere to find it?
  • Have you stopped memorizing information because you rely on the internet accessibility too much?
  • Do you draw a blank when asked to describe something, just “can’t find the word” for it or are limited to generic words?

  1. Error Error Error ! when the computer or cell phone does not work i feel completely help less. Without any facts or updates on everyday life people can go insane living in this twenty first century of technology. People get mad and break there devices when they don't work and they get frustrated. I myself would not but people do " flop " when there Internet is down. To some people this may be funny, but I feel its just sad. Sad that we rely on technology for everything and we have became lazy.

  2. Nope, I know this for a fact, three times last year my computer crashed, my father forgot to pay the internet bill, or the power went out for three days. Each time lasted a significant amount of time, the first two lasted over a week.
Sure I didn't like having no connection, I love the internet, but I survied with nothing more than a little annoyance.
Then again I'm a bit strange, I have no facebook or twitter, I text maybe five times a month, and only call my mom, and use the co mputer to mainly read fanfiction, look up randome stuff, and read manga and comics, so maybe I'm not liable to answer this question.

Here's a question, If i'm usin the Internet to read, is it any diffrent than if I read from a book.

    1. In that case, with regards to reading, if the internet is a means of sharing a book or resource that I wouldn't normally have access to, then it is a great resource. And attainable one too!! The only difference, the texture.

    2. One thing about technology, if it used for personal use, games, texting, whatever, it isn't fair to call yourself a "bit strange" since I guarantee, everyone is unique or "strange" in how they make use of their technology. To each his or her own.. That's the beauty of it, the fact that we can personalize our interests.
