Intellectual Apocolypse - Are YOU A SUCKER? (Due 1/12/12 - 3:00 pm)

Are you “sucker”?
· Do you trust the information given to you by others or from the internet to the point that you do not question whether or not it is right or even true?
· Are you the one who copies another’s answers for the points and doesn’t even think or care to make sure what you copied is actually correct? or are you an individual and have your own answers or opinions?
o Is it because you don’t care or have lost your desire to think for yourself?
o Is it the fault of your dependency on technology to think for you?

  1. As a man in this society that we live in where technology is all around us. yes, i am a sucker. The web is meant to get quick, fast, and accurate so that it can make our lives easier. If the weather man told u snow with a chance of hail, are u going to go outside in a T-shirt because you think that information is incorrect? In some way we are all suckers, believing in someone or something that we truly have no idea if its true or false.

  2. In my opinnion I do not trust the information they give me online. But sometimes I do. It depends on the situation. If it matches the notes i recieve in class and it has more dept and meaning to it, then i will trust it. If its wrong and its like a common sense question then I would just not look at it at all. I am an individual that has my own answers and opinnions. I believe so because everyone has their own state of opinnion, why follow something you dont agree in?. Sometimes i understand if the answer was provided but if not then its like an "On My Own" type question.

  3. @d.soto. I do believe about the weather portion of the internet because i follow what they say and dress accordinly to the temperature. But if the internet told me to run over a pedestrian at a railroad crossing if the light is red i wouldnt do it. Its a choice of common sense. Only you can decide what is right from wrong, not the internet.

    1. Scary thought: Do you know how many people have pretended to be others on a website/ social networking site and encouraged people to commit suicide and they have done so? I am glad you are confident in yourself, something you must always take ownership over, but for many others, their common sense is dependent upon others' opinions or demands.

  5. I trust information that I can look up in a different area and is also confirmed, also i'm not really dumb so I wouldn't even look at anything that I would consider dubious. You just have to do your research and make sure that your confident in the material you have found. I'm the type of person where I rather get questions that I personally answered wrong instead of copying off another person and getting it right because what am I truly learning in the end. I agree with D.sellers because I wouldn't follow something I don't believe in either.
