Steinbeck believes that our country's biggest downfall is the loss of a strong moral code. T here were moral rules that humans followed and accepted which blatantly defined wrong from right. Today, the problem now is that there are so many with no comprehension of something being wrong or simply that, "you just don't do that."
Do you believe it is true that "good people" with good morals and principles have been dissolving . (If you want to take this further for more points... if you believe it true, then do you believe it is the cause for our country's possible self-destruction?)
